The vertical rice paper presented a new challenge, both in its dimensions and its surface quality. Chinese ink and watercolour were used in a fluid, speedy way on a flat tabletop. Following in the spirit of the open, cross cultural dialogue established by ‘Open Books’, we created a new platform for experimentation through ‘Paper Exchange’, with 10 artists from Wales and 10 artists from China.’ Paper Exchange Curators were Zigin Chen, Mary Husted, Maggie James, Zhu Chunhang.
